-Canada is experiencing this crisis also, trafficking-related crimes occur worldwide and are equally as concerning.
-The article ,“A Formidable Task: Reflections on Obtaining Legal Empirical Evidence on Human Trafficking in Canada” written by Hayli Miller, Tamara O’Doberty, and Katrin Root reveals the challenges that Canada faces in dealing with trafficking. Miller, O’Doberty and Root explain, “The authors encountered several challenges in trying to comprehensively track and verify immigration and criminal case prosecutions, in part because Canada, like most countries, lacks a central repository for human trafficking judgments ” This quote says how people do not really care about this matter.
-Some might argue that there are more important crises going on in the world we should be worried about, but unfortunately, human trafficking affects millions of people worldwide, and the crisis needs to be treated with urgency.

This chart above reveals the significant increase in trafficking between 2009 and 2016.
The international community must come together to tackle this crisis so that the number of victims will be reduced on a global scale.
--The Canadian government publishes statistics on human trafficking convictions and identified cases.
--The Human Trafficking National Coordination Centre reported that as of November 2017,that they had identified 455 cases of human trafficking since 2005.
--455 cases, 433 cases were domestic trafficking cases where Canadian or foreign citizens were exploited within Canada, primarily for the aim of sexual exploitation.
--The remaining 22 cases were international trafficking cases where victims were trafficked across international borders, predominantly for the aim of forced labour.
-- Currently, 118 cases have resulted in human trafficking specific and/or related convictions, but 296 cases remain before the court.
